Meet Frog Street
Frog Street began development in 1989, a group of five kindergarten teachers came together to create something new. They thought that children would benefit greatly if they could receive a head start in their education. They began reaching out to child development experts at top universities. These experts helped them to build tools for teacher to help children fast track their development. The first 5 years of a child’s life are considerably the most important years regarding their education and development. By filling this time with fun learning, academic and social achievements, we set the stage for success throughout their lives.
How We Use Frog Street
At every stage of development, a child’s brain will hit certain checkpoints in learning. A necessary function of a teacher’s day is to get to know their students and find out where they are in their educational journey. By doing so, the children are provided age appropriate lessons. These lessons will help them succeed from the very beginning. At Over the Rainbow Learning Center, we believe it is of the utmost importance to know where children are at academically. That way we can find a good starting point for them. The curriculum should be familiar enough to instill confidence, but challenging enough to get the gears in their mind going.
The Frog Street child care curriculum encapsulates the concept that children’s learning needs evolve and change over time. There is a specific curriculum for every age and each stage of development. Their lessons focus on academic growth, but it also addresses the social-emotional, physical, cognitive, language, and literacy development of the child. This is what we refer to as the “whole child”. This will also help the children prepare for Kindergarten. Our teachers’ goals revolve around instilling in them the basic building blocks of their education. Well prepared, they can always start off strong, ready, and able. Currently, our center utilizes Frog Street Curriculum for all of our classrooms.
